G.D. VAJRA
Barolo Albe 2008
Score: 94 | $42 | Italy
G.D. Vajra’s Albe 2008 shows a level of quality that rivals Barolos twice its price. Albe is the result of a traditional approach that blends Nebbiolo from three vineyards: Fossati, Coste di Vergne and La Volta. At 10 to 15 years old, the vines for Albe yield slightly higher than those for Vajra’s Barolo Bricco delle Viole, and it’s aged 30 months compared with Viole’s 36 months in cask, allowing Albe’s more competitive price. 7,000 cases made.
